Extra Academic Support for Math/Language Arts
GECS provides extra academic support to students who are two or more grade levels below in Math and/or English Language Arts. GECS Students in grades 5-12 who score Below on the previous year’s CAASPP tests or are two or more grade levels below, as shown by the i-Ready results, will be assigned to GECS’ mandatory academic support program. This program may consist of classes: Math Skills or English Skills, attending labs, changing curriculum, adding supplemental assignments, etc. Lack of follow-through with the student’s academic support math or language arts plan will cause the GECS Intervention Process to be initiated. This may lead to an attendance issue and the School Attendance Review Board (SARB) truancy process to be initiated.
