Heart Lake Campout
Our adventurous High School group met only once to plan their meals and supplies for this backpacking trip. Students and EF’s Kelly McRee, Dave Theno and Marijane Derby set out from the Castle Lake parking lot and hiked the steep trail up to Heart Lake. Upon their arrival, they enjoyed swimming in the cool waters of Heart Lake. They set up camp and got to know each other that afternoon. The students set out on short expeditions from base camp exploring the terrain and enjoying the amazing views of the area, They shared a warm dinner and stories around the campfire. The students each gave short presentations on something that interested them. Everyone left feeling more connected to each other and Heart Lake.
