Golden Eagle is an EdVisions school and has received $93,000 in grants from EdVisions. EdVisions helps local communities across the country create and sustain great small schools. These innovative schools are teacher-led and use personalized project learning to help students prepare for college, careers and global citizenship. Edvisions is a nationally recognized model for secondary education - going beyond the boundaries of tradition! EdVisions Schools provide a new blueprint for 21st century learning.
Edvisions emerged from the development of the Minnesota New Country School. It all began in 1992 when a group of local educators decided to create a school based on self-directed project-based learning, using principles of the Coalition of Essential Schools and organized around a teacher-owner cooperative. A school that would abandon the one-size-fits-all approach and integrate increased student choice and rigorous learning - in a smaller, more personalized environment. The success of Minnesota New Country School has led to the replication of the Edvisions Schools model at sites around the country. Two grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation - with funding of close to $9 million have enabled us to expand our network to include over 30 schools in urban, suburban and rural settings - with many more on the way.
