In Weed, we
offer enrichment classes for our K-5th grade students at a house,
fondly called the Little Red Learning Center. Classes are offered
each semester based on
parent interest and teacher availability.
K-3rd classes are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays. This program
gives the early elementary student the opportunity to interact with
peers in a group setting, and experience an educational environment
outside of their home. The focus of the enrichment classes is to
promote positive, hands-on group learning experiences that address
varied learning styles. Classes take advantage of the beautiful
natural surroundings whenever
possible, infusing outdoor activities into daily lessons whenever
possible. Parents are encouraged to stay and participate with their
kids. This is also a great opportunity for homeschooling parents
to network.
3rd – 5th classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Parents should check with the teachers to see if they need to stay for
the classes. If your child needs you, you should expect to
stay. The group of kids, in these classes has a reward system for
good behavior. They earn “Eagle Money” and
can buy fun educational
items. Donations from parents fund this program. Please donate if
you can. This group of students also has its own judicial system
for setting up the site rules and enforcing them, including a referral
and peer jury system.
