The graduation ceremony for the senior class takes place in the Kenneth Ford Theater, on the College of the Siskiyous campus. Usually, the commencement exercise is
the last day of May or first day of June. We strive to create a personal, student-oriented graduation ceremony. We have a student-led graduation committee that chooses the theme, decorations, music, and speakers. Having an average of 30 students graduate, we can afford the luxury of introducing each student individually, honoring their achievements, and having them say a few words to their family and friends when they accept their diplomas.
Graduating seniors are asked to contribute 3 -4 photographs from their life that will be shown on a large screen behind them as they walk across the stage. There is typically a “Rose Ceremony,” wherein the students are able to thanks someone in the audience with the gift of a rose, for their help along the road to graduation.
Students are asked to pay for caps and gowns $35 and to pay a $10 refreshment fee, as well as contributing to one of the committees – music, technology, decorations, etc…
Student speakers and performers are encouraged. After the ceremony, refreshments are provided in the lobby, usually cake, coffee, tea and soda.
